How many times does the Bush appointees have to step in their own excrement or put their foot in their mouths? HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson did just that, by stating that he awarded an ethnic individual a contract, then pulled the contract back when the person told him he didn't like the President.

So, now, according to Alphonso Jackson, he's going to award contracts not on the basis of merit, but if you like Gee Dubya.

According to his reasoning, 2% African-Americans should have increased their government contract award receipts because they're on record as having some major love for Dubya, even while he screws us over royally, and has done before and since Hurricane Katrina.

You know why I love the blogsphere. Because immediately after this story hit the Internet, concerned bloggers raised enough hell to force this:

Dustee Tucker, a spokeswoman for Jackson, told the Dallas Business Journal Tuesday that Jackson’s comments at his April 28 speech were purely “anecdotal.”

“He was merely trying to explain to the audience how people in D.C., will say critical things about the secretary, will unfairly characterize the president and then turn around and ask you for money,” Tucker said. “He did not actually meet with someone and turn down a contract. He’s not part of the contracting process.”

And this, from Think Progress:

That excuse isn’t just difficult to swallow — it also contradicts the spokesperson’s first response published in today’s paper, which referenced the specific contract in question: “Dustee Tucker, a spokeswoman for Jackson’s office, said the value of the advertising contract, which was to be placed with a minority publication, could not be provided.” It looks like Jackson is changing his story as criticism builds.

First, Claude Allen demonstrates he's nothing more than a two-bit thief, despite pulling down a six-figure salary.

Now, Alphonso Jackson acts like he's Tito Jackson, and Tito at least knew when to keep his mouth shut, whereas Alphonso considers it his duty to shoot off at the mouth and let everyone know what was thought; that he's a jackass of the highest order.

The Bush Administration: where corruption is continuously uncovered, if not served IN YOUR FACE.The least these two, ahem, "brothas" could have done is represent the race, and by goodness, they couldn't even DO THAT.

I spy two more contestants for the Lawn Jockey Awards...
