Back from Atlanta, having attended Tavis Smiley's "State of the Black Union" conference at Bishop Eddie Long's Church - it blew my mind, and renewed my hope that with concentrated efforts, we can take this country back and make her into what she always has been.

GOP and DLCers like Cory Booker got taken to school on Saturday. Watch repeats on C-Span, if you don't believe me. The rest of my post is courtesy of Steve Gilliard's blog, and defines a "House Negro" (which is not confined to African-American sellouts, which the DLC has plenty of, but also applies to DINOs overall)

I think Malcolm X had a message for these people:

"To understand this, you have to go back to what [the] young brother here referred to as the house Negro and the field Negro -- back during slavery. There was two kinds of slaves. There was the house Negro and the field Negro. The house Negroes - they lived in the house with master, they dressed pretty good, they ate good 'cause they ate his food -- what he left. They lived in the attic or the basement, but still they lived near the master; and they loved their master more than the master loved himself. They would give their life to save the master's house quicker than the master would. The house Negro, if the master said, "We got a good house here," the house Negro would say, "Yeah, we got a good house here." Whenever the master said "we," he said "we." That's how you can tell a house Negro. If the master's house caught on fire, the house Negro would fight harder to put the blaze out than the master would. If the master got sick, the house Negro would say, "What's the matter, boss, we sick?" We sick! He identified himself with his master more than his master identified with himself. And if you came to the house Negro and said, "Let's run away, let's escape, let's separate," the house Negro would look at you and say, "Man, you crazy. What you mean, separate? Where is there a better house than this? Where can I wear better clothes than this? Where can I eat better food than this?" That was that house Negro. In those days he was called a "house nigger." And that's what we call him today, because we've still got some house niggers running around here. This modern house Negro loves his master. He wants to live near him. He'll pay three times as much as the house is worth just to live near his master, and then brag about "I'm the only Negro out here." "I'm the only one on my job." "I'm the only one in this school." You're nothing but a house Negro. And if someone comes to you right now and says, "Let's separate," you say the same thing that the house Negro said on the plantation. "What you mean, separate? From America? This good white man? Where you going to get a better job than you get here?" I mean, this is what you say. "I ain't left nothing in Africa," that's what you say. Why, you left your mind in Africa. On that same plantation, there was the field Negro. The field Negro -- those were the masses. There were always more Negroes in the field than there was Negroes in the house. The Negro in the field caught hell. He ate leftovers. In the house they ate high up on the hog. The Negro in the field didn't get nothing but what was left of the insides of the hog. They call 'em "chitt'lin'" nowadays. In those days they called them what they were: guts. That's what you were -- a gut-eater. And some of you all still gut-eaters.The field Negro was beaten from morning to night. He lived in a shack, in a hut; He wore old, castoff clothes. He hated his master. I say he hated his master. He was intelligent. That house Negro loved his master. But that field Negro -- remember, they were in the majority, and they hated the master. When the house caught on fire, he didn't try and put it out; that field Negro prayed for a wind, for a breeze. When the master got sick, the field Negro prayed that he'd die. If someone come [sic] to the field Negro and said, "Let's separate, let's run," he didn't say "Where we going?" He'd say, "Any place is better than here." You've got field Negroes in America today. I'm a field Negro. The masses are the field Negroes. When they see this man's house on fire, you don't hear these little Negroes talking about "our government is in trouble." They say, "The government is in trouble." Imagine a Negro: "Our government"! I even heard one say "our astronauts." They won't even let him near the plant -- and "our astronauts"! "Our Navy" -- that's a Negro that's out of his mind. That's a Negro that's out of his mind."

Most black people feel exactly the same way about these folks today. I agree. So Get in Where You Fit IN...

Although I'm a Cali girl, I was born in Texas and lived there long enough to understand the meaning of "Get your own house in order before you tell me to clean mine" or the more biblical proverb of "Clean that beam from your own eyes and then you can tell someone else that they have a beam in their eye..." You know what I'm trying to say here.

Bush goes to Russia and lectures Pooty-Poot (Putin) on having democracy and a FREE PRESS, when here in Amurica, we have "Jeff Gannon" (a known male prostitute) having access to the Pres because he does the journalistic version of whoring for him. The mainstream media has done likewise, while real journalists like Dan Rather and Helen Thomas are humiliated and shut out of press conferences because they say things Bush doesn't want to hear, or ask questions Bush can't answer without lying. In many instances, its the truth.

Pooty-Poot has been humiliated by GeeDubya, and the purpose of going to Europe in the first place was to mend the fences the Bush Cartel tore down without any provacation.

Want to bet we're going to see another Cold War as a result of Bush's antics? Read how Bush pissed off Putin here:

You can't make this stuff up. Or as Oliver Willis would say, "Like Kryptonite is to Stupid..."

Sorry I've been away from posting on the blog for a few days, but I've had the 'flu and it took a few days for the meds and hot toddy to kick in.

When you're on your back sick, you have time to think. What I've been thinking about is why we can't call something what it really is.

For example, if Condoleezza Rice has been caught lying, why are we calling it a "misspeak" or "untruth"? Why can't we call her what she is: A LIAR?

Another example - if "Jeff Gannon" has been exposed as a hypocritical partisan hack for the GOP, who happens to have a side job as a male prostitute (and an expensive one, I might add) why can't he be called what he really is: a GOP hypocritical, self-hating wanna-be LIAR, playing a journalist on TV?

Why can't we call President Bush a coward, when he refuses to meet in a "Town Hall" group whose participants haven't been screened, or the meeting itself unscripted?

Why can't we call the members of the DLC what they really are: Republican Wanna-bes?

A few years ago, President Clinton asked what "is" is? While disingenous, we would do well to ditch the double-speak and call things as they really are.

Or, if it walks like, talks like and smells like, then call "it" what "it" really is, otherwise, we lie and do not tell the truth.

Just when I begin to believe that our Democratic members of Congress have discovered their spines, then along comes something that makes me doubt whether or not they ever had a spine.

Gannon/Guckert-gate is the biggest scandal to hit the Bush Administration since a plump intern named Monica Lewinsky got Bill Clinton impeached for a blow job in the Oval Office. Yet Democrats are not playing up the most obvious angle: that a known male prostitute had access to the President of the United States. If the President's name was Bill Clinton, every media outlet in America would be savaging him just like they did in 1998.

Raw Story has the goods:

And you wonder why blogggers have started blogs and why we look to sites like Raw Story for our news.

Rev. Barbara Reynolds' commentary in the Chicago Defender clearly tells us how the Bush Administration is not above using our Black Pastors to further their agendas. Read about it here:

And I know the DLC is positively sick that Howard Dean is the new DNC Chair. They're already talking about how they're going to curtail the good Dr.

Not if us bloggers have anything to do with it! If we can out a gay prostitute posing as a member of the White House Press Corps, we can surely expose a few DLC members to inept to cover up their incompetence.

As a Christian, the thought of disowning your relative because they might be gay, or something else unacceptable, alwayse leads me to question is disowning a loved one is something that Jesus would do. Apparently, having a lesbian daughter under his roof was too much for Alan Keyes, since he kicked his own daughter to the curb.

More evidence of the '"compassionate" tendencies of the Conservatives here:

Happy Valentine's Day to you, too!

I wonder why the Religious Right-Wing Nut Jobs continue to want to give Jesus a bad name. Refusing tsunami relief to villagers because they aren't Christians is a direct contradiction of what Jesus taught.

More on this shameful development here:

On an earlier blog, I lamented that when the tsunami disaster first happened, the silence from the Religous Right was deafening. They would have done better to continue to be silent, as opposed to opening their mouths and removing any doubt that they don't even read their Bibles, much less practice what they preach.

Come to think of it, maybe they are practicing what they are preaching. Good ol' fashioned bigotry and hatred for the human race of color.

A couple of days ago, I received an email asking for nominations to the position of Organizer in the Democratic Meet-Up groups that formed around the country. So, I nominated myself, thinking that I would have to campaign for the position.

Imagine my surprise when, after typing my name in, I got the job...outright. I wish I could get any job I set my mind on in that manner, but...

So, for those of you in Oakland-Alameda County, I hope to see you there at the next Meet-Up meeting in March. Since I have the job, I'm gonna run with it.

And my aim is the Democratic Leadership Council....

The title of today's blog says it all.

Who am I talking about? you're probably asking. I'm talking about any elected official who believes he/she has to distance themselves from the individuals who unconditionally loves and accepts their crusty behind just the way they are, and well before you became an elected official. I have to ask, "Do you really aspire to elected office that much? To the point where you publicly diss your relatives in the, ahem, "mainstream media" in order to position yourself favorably to the likes of others?"

To such elected officials, I say this: Be careful, because when you get knocked down, guess who's going to be there to pick you up when you crash? That playboy uncle, or that aunt with the substance abuse problem, that's who.

Or that father who may have made financial mistakes, but made damned sure you had the best of everything growing up, because you are his child.

Or that mother who may have only had a sixth-grade education, but loved you enough to stay on your ass about going to school, getting good grades and exhorting you to go further in life than she did.

Or those cousins, grandparents, who would be an embarrassment to anyone considered "haute" culture for you.

However, these are the same individuals who will come out swinging in your defense, when the public turns on you and begin taking potshots.

Come on, we all have members of our family who we would rather stick in the back room, or hide out until the "company" leaves, but the truth of the matter is, I believe God plants all of us into imperfect families in order to teach us the fundamental lesson of unconditional love and acceptance of our relatives. I confess freely, that my own estrangement from certain family members is as a result of my not being as "perfect" as they would wish, because I'm considered an "embarrassment" when I don't toe the line; when I am outspoken on the issues that matter; when I don't "go along to get along". And those traits are courtesy of both my parents, who didn't hesistate to speak up to right a wrong, or to protest injustice.

I grew up with drunks, drug addicts, shopaholics (where do you think I got the urge for shopping, LOL) - in other words, those whose lives have been carried on, and affected by the vicissitudes of life, and yet, there's nothing I aspire to publicly that would condone denying my relationship to them in any shape, form or fashion, period.

To the elected officials who are doing this; selling out your family for political gain, my prayer for you is that you simply stop, and appreciate the relative for who and what they are, no matter how much you consider them to be an embarrassment to you. Your own survival can and will depend on it, especially when they have your back when no one else does. If you don't believe me, ask Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton. Trust me, Billy Carter, Miss Lillian, and Roger, didn't stop them from inhabiting the White House; in fact, we appreciated their family members as much as we did them, because they demonstrated to the American people how beautifully human they were.

As should you.

The trait of a DLC member - no grace in losing. Tim Roemer continues to embarass the Democratic Party by criticizing everyone except DLC incompetence.

Read it here and get your laugh on:

SORE LOSER. Perhaps, because a real Democrat is going to finally be in charge of the DNC and perhaps take back at least one branch of Congress that these misfits saw fit to lose...

I keep waiting for the abuse by this Administration to end, and for something to come out of Washington that makes sense. After having the likes of Condoleezza Rice and Alberto Gonzales confirmed as Secretary of State and Attorney General, respectively, I keep thinking that I'm in a nitrous oxide haze and will wake up to find out that it's all a hallucination.

Unfortunately, that's not the case; and Bush continues to break out his can of whip ass on the masses while telling us how much he loves Amurica...

We progressives need a 12-step program to start our recovery, and fast. We've already bottomed out as of November 2, 2004...

Now we have the proof that Joe Lieberman is not only the Founding Father of the DLC, he's become a friggin' whore for George Bush.

See the link

There's just no excuse for this crap... but on the other hand, if I'm James Dobson, this picture should give them more cause for worrying about the President's sexuality, as opposed to that of SpongeBob SquarePants.

(1) Senator Ken Salazar (Colorado). This guy is going to be a one-term Senator; count on it.

(2) Senator Joseph Lieberman (Conn.). Lifetime DLCer who needs to be treated like a lame horse and put out of his (and our) misery

(3) Senator Ben Nelson (Neb.). No cajones.

(4) Senator Mary Landrieu (La.) Blacks are gonna remember she pimped them for the votes that put her in her seat.

(5) Senator Pryor (Ark). Is Bill Clinton the only Arkansian capable of independent thought?

(6) Senator Bill Nelson (Fla.) Jeb Bush has you that scared?

We will remember. We will remember with our dollars and with our votes. Count on it.

This list is a glaring reminder of everything the Democratic Leadership Council stands for...Nothing!

Greetings from the Christian Progressive Liberal. Dr. Teresa Whitehurst provided a scathing commentary on James Dobson's attack on Dolly Parton through his Focus on the Family venue over on BuzzFlash. I sure enjoyed it, and I was inwardly shouting for joy at Dr. Whitehurst's pronouncements. Her commentary opened my eyes not only to such silly attacks on cartoons, songs and anything else that facilitates promoting diversity, but it also increased my awareness to a more subtle and evil perspective from the likes of Dr. Dobson, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and Dr. Tim "Left Behind" LaHaye.

Dr. Whitehurst's commentary opened my eyes to the grave fact that far from promoting Christian morals and values, these four men are using their forums as the "Trojan Horse" to promote bigotry, racism, sexism, xenophobia and just good, old-fashioned hate. The Trojan Horse they use is Jesus Christ Himself and everything He represented. And just like the original Trojan Horse managed to infiltrate the fort where Helen of Troy was kept, and begin the Trojan war, Dr. Dobson, Falwell, Robertson and LaHaye are doing the exact same thing; infiltrating society and all annals of the Federal Government with their hate; through policies, Constitutional amendments and congressional legislation - and calling it Christ's love. They distort Bible passages to prove their point, and essentially beat a person or group into submission if you don't agree with them.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is NOT what Christ represented. Yes, He made His purposes for coming to earth very clear; because God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son in order to save the world. The World represents everyone on it; not just those who are willing to march in lockstep and abandon his own thought process to the likes of someone else with a hidden agenda that is not in alliance with what God wants. God wants us to love Him with free will - that means we accept God because of our own personal experience with Him, and not what someone is being coerced or forced to think or accept. That is not true worship and love of God.

Let's face it: God didn't need us - but He created us because He wanted to. As a Christian, there are facets of my life that I cannot engage in because of my beliefs and the values that have been shaped as a result. Yet, at the same time, in demonstrating Who Christ is to others, my life has to reflect that. Nowhere in my Bible have I studied that Christ went around beating up those who disagreed with Him - in fact, most of the Gospels as recorded by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John clearly indicates that Jesus often hung out with what would be considered the dregs of society; the prostitutes, the tax collectors, the blind, the poor and sick.

He spent a good deal of His time on earth loving those individuals. Jesus also spent a good deal of His time telling the "Haves" to share their resources with the "have-nots" and that they couldn't enter His kingdom if they couldn't demonstrate that they could do this. Jesus spent a good deal of His time calling out the wealthy, the educated, the government officials on their hypocracy, and when His pronouncements on their sins got to be too much for the leaders to take, they hung Him on a cross and killed Him. But He rose again, and now, His Spirit lives in all of us who wears the label of "Christian". So our lives need to reflect what He lived.

Yet the likes of Dr. Dobson and his ilk will not share this with those who need to hear it. And they sure aren't being loving about what they DO share. Instead, they focus on people, places and things that cannot fight back, like the bullies they really are. Stuff like SpongBob Squarepants' sexuality and trying to discern if Tinky Winky is gay, rather than calling President Bush on his policies that ensure that the poor will remain poor and become even more poor; that the lack of a quality education for children is just as much a sin as adultery or murder; that raping the environment is NOT of God, and that the homeless are in their condition because of their own undefined "sin". Give me and other self-respecting Christians a break, please! If the lifestyles of homosexuals is that offensive to them, then why don't they confront it like mature human beings? Have they sat down and held any type of debate with gays and lesbians that didn't include name calling, insults or physical altercations? Didn't think so - that would require them to be a real Christian (sarcasm). And what about families like Dick Cheney's who have gays or lesbians as members? What counsel are you giving them? Are you telling them to consider that family member dead and never have contact with them again, ever? Is that something Jesus would do?

My job as a Christian is to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ to every human being I come into contact with. I readily admit, I haven't always been successful, because I am fully and beautifully human - but nevertheless, that is my goal as a Christian. So, when I come into contact with homosexuals, I am not beating them over the head with my Bible and condemning them to hell - I need to make sure I'm not hell-bound myself! While I agree with the Biblical teaching about homosexuality, I also believe that God would not create a person with a sexual attraction to the same sex without providing a means for them to deal with it. If I'm asked, I share what I've been taught, but not in a way that condemns another human being, and I don't try to force my opinion on them if they disagree with it. I let them know that I love them and have concern for them anyway, just like ANY OTHER HUMAN BEING! Only God has the right to condemn another person - when you travel on the road of unconditional love, you will get a challenge of loving someone you don't necessarily like, or agree with. However, this is a maturing process in the goal of being a Christian. Therefore, bigotry, xenophobia, intolerance, has no place in the life of a Christian. How can you show the love of Christ when you're on television essentially supporting hatred of others because they are different? Or espousing governmental policies that causes others to sin when those policies lead them to continued cycles of poverty, neglect, ill health, undereducated, an unsafe environment, hazardous housing and no medical coverage when they get sick?

It will not stop with homosexuals. Ethnic groups will be next; you can already see the signs of it according to where America is going into countries and starting wars. It is no coincidence that most of the Middle East is populated with dark-skinned ethnic groups. It is no coincidence regarding the genocide occuring in Rwanda and Darfur, while America doesn't bother to lift a finger and the rest of the world is looking for some semblance of Jesus in our actions. We have allowed the word "liberal" to become so vilified that since we don't use it, we no longer give in the same manner, freely.

Women will not get a free pass, either. Only 85 years ago, women gained the right to vote, and there's nothing in the Bible that indicates that women were treated as second-class citizens, either. The Apostle Paul names several women who assisted him with his ministry; many were business women such as Dorcas, Priscilla and Lydia, who was a merchant of royal cloth - the first Church was started in her home (read the Book of Acts if you don't believe me). So where does Dr. Dobson, LaHaye, Falwell and Robertson get off with the "mission" they are on to "save the world"? You don't "save the world" through subjugating the will of others - you present the information and allow them to decide for themselves, because that's how God wants it.

Something that Fox News will never do, cause they both report and decide.

I don't watch Larry King very often, but I happened to tune in on Tuesday night when he had Dr. La Haye and his wife on the show. Dr. LaHaye kept protesting that he didn't want the government using the media to "force the views of other groups on to others" yet what was most profound was what he left unsaid, because, in a sense, Larry wouldn't allow him to say it. The unspoken refrain was "but we want to control the media to force our opinion on them". Give Larry a little bit of credit; he wouldn't allow Dr. LaHaye to start preaching his views on the air - especially if you're talking about the separation of Church and State and preventing a government-ordained religion. Because the likes of Dr. Dobson, LaHaye, Falwell and Robertson - that's the main agenda they want; define their view of Christianity and impose it on others, and claim that Jesus approves. Didn't you see it in the relief aid going to the tsunami victims? Some religious groups were actually making it a condition that the Sri Lankans convert to Christianity before they saw a penny of disaster relief.

That's not Jesus' way.

And on a note to African-Americans and other ethnicities, but in particular, my ethnic race - we have long been victims of racism, and discrimnation to the point that we cannot afford to be co-opted by right wing evangelicals who want us at the table regarding gay issues, but were notoriously absent during the Civil Rights movement, to the point that many of them were giving tacit consent to subjugating the Black man and claimed they were doing it in the name of Jesus. We have more important issues to consider than whether or not gay individuals can get married. Waging war under lying pretences; deliberating tanking the economy and generating enough national debt to the point that they are already plotting how to rob the elderly from their Social Security checks and preventing them from getting the medications they need in order to hasten their demise; not to mention the red-lining tactics that prevent us from home ownership and quality education for our children - these are more pressing issues that are leading to sin, rather than the living arrangements of homosexuals, which may have little, if no effect on you personally at all. So why are we throwing open the welcome wagon for Falwell and his ilk - NOW? Because you want a slice of the faith based money pie? You need to remember that the love of money is the root of all sorts of evil, and our communities cannot stand anymore "assistance" from the government that's designed to futher decimate our communities. Don't you remember the crack cocaine infiltration under the Reagan Administration in the 80s? I guess not - we didn't own planes or boats to transport that devastating endemic into Black neighborhoods; an endemic from which we have yet to recover.

Beware the Trojan Horse - it may be directed at you in Jesus' name, thanks to the likes of Dr. Dobson and his group. They've taken Focus on the Family to the point that the family is getting left out of the Focus.

No, a DINO is not that pet dinosaur of Fred Flintstone's; a DINO is an acronym for Democrat In Name Only. In other words, probably a member of the Democratic Leadership Council, which has a nickname, too: REPUBLICAN-Lite.

A DINO is a party official who acts anything but, as evidenced by the votes of two of the Senate's newest members, Barack Obama and Ken Salazar, when they voted to confirm Condosleezza Rice as Secretary of State. Now, I understand that Ken Salazar is going to give the nod to the Torturer in Chief, Alberto Gonzales, as Attorney General. WTF?

This guy is worse than John Ashcroft, and I never thought I would be even thinking that, let alone saying it. Even the normal, ready-for-prime-time-on-Fox News elected Senators, like Lieberman and Feinstein, are saying "No" to this SOB! He can't even get backing from the Mexican Defense Legal Council, and as of this post, 44 Senators, and maybe a couple of Republican defectors (Lincoln Chaffee, anyone?) are leaning against sanctioning torture...I also understand from some bloggers at Daily Kos that Salazar is thinking about defecting to the Republican Party - he only ran as a Democrat to beat Pete Coors. Right now, the beer guy is looking as good as a cold one in 90-degree weather at an Oakland A's game...since Coloradians are beginning to believe they've been had! The Recall theme song is beginning to play a few bars...

Sen. Salazar says he's voting yes, because he and Gonzales are old friends. Anyone who's friends with Bush's anal orifices (such as Gonzales) needs to be voted out of office when their term is up. 'Nuff said.

Tuesday, February 01, 2005

I'm getting really tired of elected Democrats singing the Republican's Theme Songs, like "We Need to Talk about Jesus". Well, dang, you should have already been doin' it before the Thugs gained a monopoly in Jesusland.

And the guy she's enlisted to carry this out? Why, 'tis no one other than Rep. James Clyburn, a card-carrying DLC member as well as one of the 20% of the detractors that have infected the Congressional Black Caucus to the point of derailing their agenda.

More on this shameful development here:

The Democratic Leadership Council is like the opposite sex; you can't kill them, and yet they drive you nuts and wonders why you want to tear their hair out...

Michael Carmichael of the Political Junkies says it best about how important it is for the right person to be elected the next Chair of the Democratic Party, and therefore, neuter and spade the faction of the Party known as the Democratic Leadership Council.

Read about it here:
